LoA Camp log
diary
10 August
The weather is nice, warm and sunny...
The LoA campers from Denmark and UK are already camping - they arrived one day earlier.
The arrivals start from 14:30, with patrols from Italy (Gazzelle) and Greece (Phoenixes and Scorpions). Just a little later the patrol Squali was welcomed to the camp.
Delfini arrived just in time for dinner, followed by Sincap and Bukalemun  from Turkey.
The patrols from Portugal expressed their dissapointment for the services of the Easyjet air company that caused them a delay of 4 hours and almost missed their dinner!!!
Lara, theCamp Chief, handed every participant the handbook and Vassia (Programme Co-ordinator) explained the programme for the day and for Monday.
The subcamps played a short intro game and dinner was served at the usual (for Kandersteg) time: 18:00.
The Opening Ceremony was presided by MC Nicola and MC Vassia. The guest of honour was Candy-Candy, who sang together with all participants the Camp Song...

The weather is nice, warm and sunny...
The day of EUR Hopping - doing a hike twinned with a patrol from another country. Everyone started walking from the Centre at around 9:00 a.m. in the direction of the village of Kandersteg and, from there, towards the alpine lake of Oeshinensee. On their way, the patrols had to identify and document (photograph) a series of elements (grouped into "living things", "signs of living things" and "non-living things").
Around noon all the participants regrouped at Oeschinensee, at various degrees of tiredness...
A second task awaited the patrols at the lake - building a "water-holding" contraption using only the materials available around the lake! As good and creative Scouts, everyone finished the task in relatively short time and enjoyed a well deserved hour of rest.
The descent was uneventful and everyone got back to camp early in the afternoon.
Just as well, since the weather changed and a serious rain washed the campsite for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
The last activity of the day was the Food Festival where all countries were proud to offer samples of their finest cuisine!

The weather is grey and wet...
The morning is dedicated to Express EURSelf. The participants had experienced activities on 5 bases: Movie-making, Photography, Dancing, Music and Painting. You can see here some of the results of today's activities...
The afternoon was spent at the EuroVillage - practicing traditional arts and crafts specific to each of the participating countries.
Some of the Scouts gathered for the first LoA Forum, debating issues relevant to their age related to Scouting in Europe.
The "Jeux sans Frontieres" completed the programme of the day, with two challenges: "Water-Pass" and "Charlie Chaplin". The subcamp Bire proved the quickest water-passers and Altels were the most skilled in manouvering Charlot's famous cane...
The evening (continuous rain...) was organised by each subcamp, around candles or a campfire...

The weather is sunny again...
Today? The same like yesterday? It may look like it – EuroVillage again, “Jeux sans Frontieres” and the usual Forum…
But the LoA Camp is always new – EuroVillage with new activities to discover, gliding on soap at “Jeux sans Frontieres” and the Forum with new ideas and new people. But today, above all, it was the day of the Traditional Games: games and more games from all corners of Europe, challenges and races…
And then, a strange presence among the LoA campers: the shadow of the lost engineer looking for the scattered map. In the middle of the forest of Kandersteg some of us have experienced the thrills of meeting the tunnel workers who, for a small favour, helped in searching the lost document…
